01Who we are
Let Rides is run by Telktia Ltd, registered in Scotland (company number [Company number]), registered office [Registered office address]. We are the controller of the personal data described here, and we’re registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO registration number [ICO registration number]).
Questions about privacy: support@letrides.com [or a dedicated privacy address / data protection contact].
02What this policy covers
This policy explains how we use personal data when you use the Let Rides rider app, the driver app and this website, under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
03The data we collect
| Type | Examples |
|---|---|
| Account | Name, email, phone number, profile photo, password (stored hashed), account settings. |
| Trips | Pick-up and drop-off, route, date and time, fare, vehicle class, ratings and feedback. |
| Location | Your device’s location while booking and during a trip. For drivers, location while online. |
| Driver documents | Driving and taxi or private hire licences, proof of ID, selfie, vehicle licence, insurance and other vehicle documents. |
| Payments | Payment status, amounts, the last four digits and expiry of a card, Direct Debit mandate status. Full card and bank details are held by Stripe and GoCardless, not by us. |
| Support and safety | Messages to our support team, incident and safety reports, complaints. |
| Device and usage | Device type, operating system, app version, crash logs, IP address. |
This website itself does not ask for personal data, and sets no cookies — see our Cookies policy.
04Location data
Riders: we use your location to find your pick-up point, match you with a nearby driver and show the trip in progress. We only collect it while you’re booking or on a trip. You can turn location off in your phone settings and type your pick-up instead.
Drivers: we collect location while you are online, to offer you nearby bookings, navigate, calculate fares and keep a record of each trip.
If you share a trip with a live link, anyone with the link can see the driver’s first name, vehicle and the trip’s live location until the trip ends.
05Driver documents and checks
Before a driver can go online, our operator checks their licence, ID, selfie and vehicle documents, and approves the driver and the vehicle. We keep records of those checks because licence conditions require us to, and to keep riders safe.
[Confirm whether the selfie is used for automated facial matching. If so, it is biometric special category data and needs an Article 9 condition, a DPIA and specific wording here.]
Riders see a driver’s first name, photo, vehicle, number plate and licence number during a trip. Drivers see a rider’s first name, pick-up and drop-off.
06Payment data
- Stripe processes card payments, driver packages and driver payouts. Stripe holds full card details and drivers’ bank and identity verification details. See Stripe’s privacy policy.
- GoCardless processes Ride Tab Direct Debits and holds your bank account details. See GoCardless’s privacy notice.
- We receive payment status and basic reference details so we can show receipts and manage your account.

12Your rights
You have the right to:
- get a copy of your personal data;
- have inaccurate data corrected;
- have data deleted, where we don’t need to keep it;
- restrict or object to how we use it, including for direct marketing;
- receive data you gave us in a portable format;
- withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on consent;
- not be subject to decisions based solely on automated processing that significantly affect you.
To use any of these rights, email support@letrides.com. We’ll reply within one month. We may need to confirm your identity first.
13Automated decisions
Fares are calculated automatically, and bookings are matched to nearby drivers automatically. Decisions to approve, suspend or remove a driver are made by a person. [Confirm there are no solely automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects, e.g. automated fraud blocks]
14Children
Let Rides accounts are for people aged 18 and over. We don’t knowingly collect data from children.
15Complaints to the ICO
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your data, please contact us first. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

We’ll update this page when things change, and tell you in the app if a change is significant.
